Once upon a time ...
There was a newly qualified dentist called Craig (that would be me by the way, hello). After graduating I created a spreadsheet for myself to be able to compare the different providers and the variety of insurance and indemnity cover they offered.
As my spreadsheet grew it became quite comprehensive, it helped me to navigate the tricky minefield of insurance and indemnity cover. It was not very exciting at all and a bit of a chore but it did help compare all the providers and what they covered, so was worth doing.
I compared the traditional mutual indemnity providers with the newer insurance-based providers, claims-made versus occurrence based, who and what was covered, how much was I covered for and how long the cover lasted, what happened if I changed provider and what support or resources did my premium buy me? As I said, “comprehensive!” ;-)
When I went through all of the different policies available, and discussed it with my friends, it became very clear that the difference in cover and premiums that everyone was paying was enormous!
... happily ever after
At a good friend’s wedding, I was telling someone about my spreadsheet (What? I was proud of it!!) and we decided that it made sense to publish it online, making it much quicker and easier to keep up-to-date and share with everyone.
Excited by the prospect of being able to share my spreadsheet with a wider circle than just me and my friends, I ended up developing it as an idea until this little spreadsheet grew into the I&I brand.
I’m so happy to be able to share it now in a much better way, that is free to use for any or all in the dental community.
With the cost of indemnity cover increasing rapidly I hope it helps you as much as it did for my friends and I (&I).
